Face ENE and look about 6 fists up — a closed fist at arm's length is about 10°. Magnitude 2.1. Nearest bright marker: Mirfak, 9° away — Algol is level with it, to the right. You will find it in Perseus. It is a blue-white main-sequence star, 93 light years away, so the light reaching you left it in 1934. It is an eclipsing variable: it next dims at 01:16 on 2026-08-07, and again every 2.867 days. Your sky here is about Bortle 7, bright, so for this you want binoculars from here. The Moon is 47% lit and only 19° away, which will wash out anything faint nearby. Best in the next 12 months: 2026-11-09, when it reaches 89° with 10.8 hours of darkness and the Moon 0% lit.
