The exception is Fomalhaut, the one bright star in a wide, empty stretch of autumn sky, which sits at the fish's mouth and is named for it: the Arabic فم الحوت, "the mouth of the fish". The figure is old, in the Babylonian lists two thousand years before the Greeks, and it was drawn as a fish drinking the water poured out by Aquarius above it.
